Rapid progress in nanoscience and technology has given a powerful incentive to elaboration of surface investigations. Surface phenomena play a leading role for nanoscale systems, which properties differ from the same properties in the bulk. The Journal covers the numerous aspects in the entire field of surface physics from the preparation of samples, through physical and chemical properties of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures (including organic and biological materials), to data analysis and interpretation of results. The Journal focuses especially on novel experimental approaches to characterization of surfaces, interfaces and thin films by X-ray, synchrotron and neutron techniques, which are the most suited techniques for structural studies of nanosystems. The Journal publishes original research papers and topical reviews, as well as special issues and proceedings of Russian and international conferences.
