The year 2003 brings a number of important changes to Applied Economics Quarterly (Konjunkturpolitik). After 48 volumes publishing mostly German articles, all future contributions will be in English. Rainer Winkelmann (University of Zurich) has been appointed as the new editor, and Kurt Brännäs (Umea University), Holger Görg (University of Nottingham) and Beatrice Weder (University of Mainz) join as co-editors. The editors are supported by an editorial board of distinguished scholars from Europe and the US. The international composition of the editorial team reflects the global economics community that the journal seeks to reach, and also marks its commitment to diversity in the range of research types it will encompass.Applied Economics Quarterly publishes empirical research with relevance for economic policy. All areas of economics are considered, including social policy, labor, population issues, trade, international finance, development, stabilization and growth. The goal of the jo
